YS Series 4-Pole Small Power Motor (25W – 750W)
Aluminium-frame four-pole squirrel-cage induction motor covering 25 W through 750 W at approximately 1400 rpm on 380 V or 220 V 50 Hz supply. The widest power range in the YS family — from frame 56 through 90L — makes this the default small-power motor choice for pumps, conveyors, mixers, and gearmotor drives where moderate shaft speed and high torque density are required.

The Most Versatile Small Power Motor in the YS Range
The YS 4-pole motor is the most widely used variant in the YS small-power series. Its 1400 rpm shaft speed sits in the ideal range for direct-coupled small pumps and fans, belt-driven conveyors, and gearmotor input shafts where the full 2800 rpm of the 2-pole variant would require a higher reduction ratio and a correspondingly larger gearbox body. The 4-pole motor therefore offers the better overall system efficiency and lowest total drivetrain cost in the majority of light-duty applications.
The power range extends from 25 W (YS5614-4, frame 56) up to 750 W (YS90L-4, frame 90L), giving 10 standardised power steps with close spacing that allows designers to match the motor to the load requirement without significant oversizing. This wide range also means the 4-pole YS motor spans both the fractional-horsepower market (below 370 W) and the lowest end of the sub-integral-horsepower market, making it a single-catalogue solution for light machinery manufacturers.
Korea Ever-Power supplies the YS 4-pole in both 380 V three-phase and 220 V single-phase (capacitor-run) configurations across most of the power range. All units carry IP44 protection as standard, with IP55 available on request. The aluminium alloy housing gives up to 40% weight saving over cast iron and excellent corrosion resistance, with natural oxide finish suitable for food-grade and pharmaceutical environments.

Typical Applications for YS 4-Pole Small Power Motors
Light Conveyors and Feeders
Food packaging lines, pharmaceutical blister-pack feeders, and small parts assembly conveyors use the YS 4-pole motor for its moderate shaft speed and high starting torque, allowing direct drive without a reduction stage in many conveyor widths and configurations.
|
Small Mixers and Agitators
Laboratory and pilot-scale chemical mixers, paint agitators, and glue-pot stirrers use the 4-pole motor because 1400 rpm input to a small worm gearbox gives the 20 to 100 rpm impeller speed required for most low-shear mixing duties.
|
Small Centrifugal Pumps
Garden irrigation pumps, water feature circulation pumps, and chemical dosing pumps use the YS 4-pole motor for direct shaft coupling to the impeller at 1400 rpm, producing moderate head and flow without the noise associated with 2-pole high-speed impeller designs.

Gearmotor Drives
Paired with NMRV worm gearboxes, the YS 4-pole motor forms the most widely used compact gearmotor configuration in the Korean and Asian light-industry markets, with a ratio range from 5:1 to 100:1 covering output speeds from 14 rpm to 280 rpm.
|
🧹
Textile Auxiliary Drives
Creel stands, thread tensioners, and fabric-roll turntables on knitting and weaving machines use the YS 4-pole motor for its moderate speed and smooth starting, which prevents thread breakage on delicate yarn materials during start-up.
|
🏛
Woodworking Accessories
Dust extraction blowers, chip conveyor augers, and finishing sanders on small woodworking benches use YS 4-pole motors for the combination of compact size, moderate speed, and low noise that bench-mounted equipment requires.

4-Pole vs 2-Pole: Choosing the Right YS Motor for Your Application
Shaft Speed and Torque
At the same power rating and frame size, the 4-pole motor produces twice the shaft torque of the 2-pole motor because torque equals power divided by angular velocity, and the 4-pole runs at half the speed. This higher torque allows direct drive to loads that would require a reduction stage with a 2-pole motor, saving the cost and maintenance of a gearbox in many applications. Choose 4-pole when the load speed is 1000 to 1500 rpm or can be reduced to that range with a modest gear ratio.
Noise and Vibration
The 4-pole motor runs at 1400 rpm compared to 2800 rpm for the 2-pole variant. Aerodynamic noise from the cooling fan varies with approximately the fifth power of speed, so the 4-pole motor is substantially quieter — roughly 12 to 15 dB lower fan noise in practice. For bench-mounted equipment, instrument room installations, and medical device drives where low acoustic emission is specified, the 4-pole motor is the preferred choice over the 2-pole at the same power rating.
Gearbox Compatibility
NMRV worm gearboxes are available in ratios from 5:1 to 100:1 as standard. At 1400 rpm input from a YS 4-pole motor, these ratios give output speeds from 280 rpm down to 14 rpm. At 2800 rpm input from a YS 2-pole motor, the same gearbox ratios give 560 rpm to 28 rpm output. For applications requiring output speeds below 20 rpm, the 4-pole motor with a high-ratio gearbox produces a more compact and efficient assembly than the 2-pole motor, which would require a two-stage reduction to reach the same output speed.
