Gearmotors – Pre-Assembled Motor and Gear Reducer Drive Units

Korea Ever-Power gearmotors are factory-assembled, pre-tested drive units combining an IEC standard three-phase induction motor with a gear reducer in a single compact package, ready to bolt onto the driven equipment. Available configurations include R-series helical inline, F-series parallel shaft, K-series helical-bevel right-angle, and NMRV worm gear combinations, covering output torque from 11 N·m to 50,000 N·m with motor power from 0.12 kW to 200 kW. Each gearmotor is shipped with the correct oil fill, aligned motor-to-gearbox coupling, and a single nameplate showing the combined unit performance data, eliminating the need for on-site motor and gearbox matching, assembly, and alignment.

Integrated Gearmotor Drive Unit Overview

A gearmotor eliminates the procurement and assembly complexity of purchasing a motor and gearbox separately. Korea Ever-Power manufactures each gearmotor as a single unit: the three-phase motor is mounted directly to the gear reducer input flange, the motor shaft is coupled to the gearbox input through a precision splined or keyed connection, the correct quantity and grade of gear oil is filled, and the complete unit undergoes a full-load performance test before shipment.

The buyer receives a single drive unit with one part number, one nameplate showing output speed, output torque, motor power, and voltage, and one set of installation dimensions. There is no need for on-site motor alignment, coupling installation, or oil filling. This reduces installation time by approximately 60–70% compared to assembling separate motor and gearbox components in the field, and eliminates the risk of misalignment, incorrect oil grade, or improper coupling fit.

Our gearmotor combinations use standard IEC motor frames, so replacement motors can be sourced independently if needed in the future. The gearbox input flange accepts any IEC-standard motor of the matching frame size, providing long-term serviceability and spare parts availability without vendor lock-in.

Why Order a Pre-Assembled Gearmotor

Guaranteed Motor-Gearbox Compatibility

When ordering motor and gearbox separately, there is a risk of selecting incompatible frame sizes, flange types, or shaft dimensions. A pre-assembled gearmotor eliminates this risk entirely. The motor frame, flange type, and shaft are factory-matched to the gearbox input, and the coupling fit is verified on the assembly line before the unit is painted and packed.

Reduced Installation Time

Field assembly of a motor and gearbox typically requires 2–4 hours per unit including unpacking, motor-to-gearbox alignment, coupling installation, oil filling, and test run. A pre-assembled gearmotor reduces this to 30–45 minutes of mechanical bolting and electrical wiring. For projects involving 10 or more drive units, the labor savings alone can offset the small premium for factory assembly.

Single-Source Performance Warranty

When a motor and gearbox are purchased from different suppliers, warranty responsibility for a drive system failure can become a dispute between the motor vendor and the gearbox vendor. A gearmotor from Korea Ever-Power comes with a single warranty covering the complete drive unit. If any issue occurs, our engineering team handles the entire investigation and resolution process.

Verified Performance Data

Each gearmotor is tested at our factory on a dynamometer bench to verify output speed, output torque, no-load current, and operating temperature. The test report is included with the shipment documentation. This factory test catches any assembly defects or performance deviations before the unit reaches the job site, avoiding costly commissioning delays.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a gearmotor and how is it different from buying a motor and gearbox separately?

A gearmotor is a pre-assembled, factory-tested combination of an electric motor and a gear reducer shipped as a single integrated unit. Compared to purchasing separately, a gearmotor saves 2–4 hours of field assembly time per unit, eliminates motor-to-gearbox compatibility risks, and comes with a single warranty covering the entire drive. The motor is permanently coupled to the gearbox input at the factory with verified alignment and correct oil fill.

Can I replace just the motor on an existing gearmotor?

Yes. Our gearmotors use standard IEC motor input flanges. If the motor fails, you can remove it from the gearbox and install any IEC standard motor with the same frame size and flange type. The gearbox does not need to be replaced. This avoids the vendor lock-in that can occur with some proprietary gearmotor designs where the motor and gearbox use non-standard interface dimensions.

How do I specify a gearmotor for my application?

Provide the following information: required output speed (rpm), required output torque (N·m), preferred gearbox type (inline, parallel, right-angle, or worm), voltage and frequency, mounting position, and any special requirements such as brake motor, VFD-rated motor, or food-grade lubricant. Our engineering team will recommend the optimal motor-gearbox combination with full technical data and pricing.

Can a gearmotor be used with a variable frequency drive?

Yes. For VFD applications, we supply gearmotors with our YVF2 inverter-duty motor instead of the standard YE3 motor. The VFD gearmotor uses H-class insulation with independent cooling fan and is rated for continuous variable-speed operation from 5 Hz to 100 Hz. Specify "VFD-rated motor" when requesting a quotation.

What is the lead time for gearmotors?

Standard NMRV gearmotors with YE3 motors (sizes NMRV040–090) ship within 10–18 business days. R/F/K series gearmotors require 15–25 business days due to additional assembly and testing time. Gearmotors with VFD motors or brake motors add 3–5 days to the standard lead time. Contact our sales team for current availability and pricing.

Do your gearmotors replace SEW Eurodrive or Nord units?

Yes. Our R, F, K, and NMRV gearmotors are dimensionally compatible with the corresponding SEW Eurodrive, Nord, and Bonfiglioli gearmotor families. The output shaft diameter, center height, and mounting bolt pattern match the equivalent model, allowing our units to serve as direct replacements in existing installations. We supply dimensional comparison drawings to verify compatibility before ordering.

Customer Experiences

We ordered 28 R57 + YE3-3kW gearmotors for a new distribution center conveyor system. Every unit arrived pre-assembled, oil-filled, and tested. Our installation crew bolted them on and wired them up in less than one day, compared to the three days it took to assemble separate motors and gearboxes on our previous project. The test certificates included with each unit satisfied our commissioning engineer without any additional verification testing.

Martin H., Project Manager

Logistics Systems Integrator, Rotterdam, Netherlands

We use NMRV063 + 1.1 kW gearmotors on over 100 packaging machines that we manufacture each year. Korea Ever-Power delivers them in batches of 20–30 units every month with consistent quality. Having the motor already fitted to the gearbox saves us 1.5 hours per machine on the assembly line. The combined unit nameplate simplifies our machine documentation as well.

Yuki S., Production Manager

Packaging Machine OEM, Nagoya, Japan

Our wastewater plant needed K77 + YE3-11kW gearmotors for 6 sludge thickener drives with output speed of 8 rpm. The right-angle K-series configuration fit perfectly with our vertical agitator installation. All units were pre-filled with food-grade oil since the thickener is located adjacent to a drinking water treatment area. Delivery took 22 days, which was within our project schedule.

Important Technical Note

Gearmotor output torque and speed values shown in this document are based on continuous duty at rated motor power with standard ambient temperature (40°C). The actual maximum output torque is limited by either the motor rated torque multiplied by the gear ratio and efficiency, or the gearbox rated torque, whichever is lower. For applications with variable loads, frequent starts, or elevated temperatures, a detailed selection calculation is required. Contact our engineering team with your complete application parameters for a verified gearmotor recommendation. Motor specifications conform to IEC 60034 and gearbox specifications conform to DIN 3990 / ISO 6336 (helical) or DIN 3996 / ISO 14521 (worm).
