Y2 Series 6-Pole Motor — 1000 rpm High-Torque Industrial Drive
The Y2-*-6 six-pole motor series delivers a synchronous speed of 1000 r/min at 50Hz, producing approximately 50% more shaft torque than a 4-pole motor of identical power rating at the same frame size. This torque advantage is fundamental to its role in heavy industrial applications where direct-drive or minimal-reduction drivetrain design is preferred, eliminating one stage of gearing and its associated power loss, maintenance cost, and mechanical complexity.
Korea Ever-Power produces 24 standard model ratings in the 6-pole configuration, from the Y2-71M1-6 at 0.18 kW through the Y2-315L2-6 at 132 kW. Frame sizes span IEC 71M through 315L, fully interchangeable with Y-series, YE3-series, and equivalent international IEC-frame motors. The larger air gap and wider pole pitch of 6-pole designs result in lower acoustic noise than 2-pole or 4-pole motors at comparable power levels.
When paired with our helical gear reducers or worm gear reducers, the 6-pole motor requires a lower reduction ratio to reach the desired final output speed, resulting in a more efficient and compact gearmotor assembly. For applications needing precise speed control at 1000 rpm base speed, the YVF2 variable frequency motor series shares identical frame dimensions and serves as a direct substitution.

When to Choose 6-Pole
Choose a 6-pole motor when one or more of the following conditions apply to your application:
- The driven machine operates optimally at 900–1000 rpm and no gearbox is required
- High starting torque is needed (Tst/Tn ratios of 2.0–2.1 across the range)
- Low acoustic noise is a priority — 6-pole motors produce less fan and electromagnetic noise than 2-pole or 4-pole models
- The load has high inertia (large flywheels, heavy conveyors) requiring long acceleration without overheating
- The motor will be paired with a gearbox requiring input speed below 1000 rpm to reach very low final output speeds
- Variable frequency inverter control is not available but reduced output speed compared to 4-pole is desired
