Gearmotors — Combined Motor and Gearbox Units
Factory-assembled gearmotor units pairing Korea Ever-Power IEC induction motors with worm, inline helical, parallel shaft helical, bevel-helical, or helical-worm gearboxes into a single integrated drivetrain. All combinations are pre-aligned, filled with the correct lubricant, and tested before shipment — reducing on-site installation time and eliminating motor-to-gearbox alignment as a site activity.

Why Order a Gearmotor Instead of Motor and Gearbox Separately
A gearmotor is a factory-assembled unit in which the motor and gearbox leave the production facility as a single item, pre-aligned on the IEC flange interface, filled with the correct grade and quantity of gear lubricant for the gearbox type, and run at load on the factory test bench before shipment. The mechanical interface between motor and gearbox is an IEC B5 or B14 pilot bore and bolt circle, which aligns the two units to within the tolerance of the machined surfaces — no field alignment procedure is required, and the input shaft of the gearbox and the motor shaft are engaged inside the gearbox housing without any exposed coupling or coupling guard.
For project procurement, ordering a gearmotor rather than separate motor and gearbox reduces the bill of materials to a single line item with a single part number, a single delivery, and a single supplier warranty. In high-volume installations such as conveyor systems with 20 to 100 identical drive stations, the reduction in procurement administration, goods receiving inspection, and site assembly labour from receiving pre-built gearmotors versus separate components is substantial.
Korea Ever-Power assembles gearmotors from the full motor range (Y2, YD, YVF2, Y2EJ, YB2, BXG) matched with any of the five gearbox families (RV/NMRV worm, R inline helical, F parallel shaft helical, K bevel-helical, S helical-worm) across the overlapping frame size and power range. All gearmotor combinations carry a unified product warranty covering both the motor and gearbox as a single assembly.

Typical Applications for Korea Ever-Power Gearmotors
Belt and Screw Conveyors
R series inline helical gearmotors are the standard specification for belt conveyor head pulley drives from 0.75 kW to 90 kW, providing 94 to 96% combined efficiency across the full power range. F series parallel shaft gearmotors serve tail-end and intermediate drives where axial space behind the pulley shaft is restricted.

Food and Beverage Lines
NMRV worm gearmotors with BXG stainless IP69K motors serve washdown conveyor drives in meat, dairy, and beverage facilities. K series bevel-helical gearmotors with Y2EJ brake motors drive portion control and portioning table indexing where right-angle geometry and exact positioning are both required.
|
Agitator and Mixer Drives
S series helical-worm gearmotors serve top-entry vessel agitators in chemical plants where the agitator shaft must hold position on power loss without a separate brake (self-locking). K series bevel-helical gearmotors serve large side-entry agitators above 15 kW where heat generation at the gearbox is a process-area concern.

Specifying a Gearmotor: Four Parameters That Define the Selection
1. Required Output Speed (rpm)
Output speed determines the gear ratio required. Divide the motor synchronous speed (1440 rpm for 4-pole at 50 Hz, or 960 rpm for 6-pole) by the required output speed to get the nominal ratio. For example, a conveyor requiring 28 rpm from a 4-pole motor needs a ratio of 1440 / 28 = 51.4:1. Choose the nearest standard ratio in the chosen gearbox family. If the exact speed is critical (process line synchronisation), specify the required output speed and Korea Ever-Power will verify the actual achieved speed at the selected ratio.
2. Required Output Torque (N·m) and Service Factor
Output torque equals the load torque at the driven shaft, multiplied by the application service factor. Service factors: 1.0 for smooth uniform loads, 1.5 for moderate shock (conveyors with start-stop), 2.0 to 2.5 for heavy shock (agitators starting under full load, crushers). The gearbox rated output torque must exceed this product. A common error is to size the gearbox based only on motor power and ratio without applying a service factor, which leads to premature gear and bearing wear in shock-load applications.
3. Shaft Geometry and Load-Holding Requirement
Choose the gearbox type based on shaft direction (inline R or F; right-angle RV, K, or S) and whether self-locking is needed (RV above 30:1 or S above 35:1 for load-holding without a brake; R, F, and K are always back-driveable and require a motor brake for load holding). For right-angle drives above 1,500 N·m output torque, only the K or S series applies. For right-angle drives requiring self-locking above 4,000 N·m, consult Korea Ever-Power for a custom solution.
